Our Legacy of Compassionate In-Home Care
American Home Companions was founded in 1992 by Don
Reynolds. A former Methodist minister, Mr. Reynolds had
visited many elderly people in nursing homes and had
witnessed first-hand the indignity that many suffered. He
formed American Home Companions to allow seniors, including
his own mother (Mimi), to receive needed care while
continuing to live in the comfort of their own homes.
Mimi’s experience mirrors our clients’. As we age our circle
of friends, places, and interests, slowly diminishes. Mimi
was widowed at age 77, by age 80 she had outlived most of
her close friends and by age 82 her loss of hearing made it
difficult for her to meet new people. At 84 she was no
longer able to drive safely and she became dependent upon
others for shopping and social interaction.
Being
independent should not mean being alone. American Home
Companions helps seniors maintain their independence and
quality of life through contact with friends, places, and
interests without relying solely on their families.
To enable our senior citizens to live their twilight years in the familiar, comfortable
and secure setting of their own home, by providing them with the caring assistance they need to stay there.
